The Rubicone appellation is located in Emilia-Romagna, on the east coast just south of Venice. It’s named for the famous Rubicon River, crossed by Julius Caesar in 49BC. This region grows over 40 types of wine grapes, and Trebbiano is a leading white varietal.
The wine is almost clear in the glass, with a faint hint of light straw yellow. The characteristic aromas of citrus, especially lemon, are right up front. The lemon flavors persist on the palate, complemented by hints of tropical fruit and green melon. The mouthfeel is quite smooth, with a delicate, lingering finish.
