It’s pronounced blau-FRANK-ish, and it means “blue French.” This is a heritage varietal from one of Austria’s premier winegrowing regions. In fact, it is the most important wine grape cultivated in this area, with over 7,500 acres planted.
The pleasant, dense ruby color in the glass is bright and clear, with a complex, layered nose of blackberry, plum, vanilla, and smoke. The palate is direct and straightforward, with a mouthfilling texture and rich tannins.
